We are pleased to announce that following successful stage 1 and stage 2 audits by BSI that OsteoWeld is now ISO 14001:2015 accredited.
As a medical device start-up we have chosen to be accredited right from the start of our journey for a number of reasons. We believe that all businesses whether large or small need to be considering their environmental impact in a world where the effects of climate change are being seen on a daily basis. Public feeling is increasingly favouring organisations that have an environmental management system in place to minimise their environmental footprint and continuously look for areas of improvement and the opportunity to do things better.
Medical device design is starting to see increasing legislation, directives, regulations and standards introduced in areas such as product disposal and product packaging considerations including recycling and disposal.
ISO 14001 provides a framework that helps us to map out how we are currently impacting the environment and identifies areas of improvement and opportunity as well as potential risks. The management system spans the entire company, crucially including device design and realisation from prototyping to end of life disposal and packaging.
Being recognised as an environmentally sustainable medical device design company at the start of our journey is one of the many things we believe makes us competitive and attractive to investors.
A big thank you to our employees and business partners who assisted and supported us with making this exciting project a success and we look forward to what our environmental management system will help us to achieve in the future!
